Introduction
Hampton Roads Pride is committed to making a meaningful difference for members of our community. We are excited to announce that, at PrideFest in June 2026, we will be granting scholarships with total awards of up to $40,000.
Program overview
These merit-based scholarships evaluate both academic performance and demonstrated community involvement. Applicants who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, or Questioning (LGBTQ+), as well as those connected to related identities (including, but not limited to, Intersex, Asexual, Pansexual, Two-spirit, Nonbinary, Agender, and Genderqueer), are encouraged to apply. We also welcome applications from LGBTQ+ allies—people who do not identify as LGBTQ+ themselves but actively support and stand with the LGBTQ+ community.
Award payment and recognition
Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the recipient’s educational institution in June. Recipients are expected to attend PrideFest to be formally recognized. Awardees will receive notification by email. Because of the large number of applications we receive, applicants who are not selected may not be individually notified.

Terms & Conditions
Reward:
Hampton Roads Pride will award scholarships totaling up to $30,000. The precise amount each recipient receives will depend on the number of awardees and the funds available.
Eligibility:
- Identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, or Questioning (LGBTQ+).
- LGBTQ+ allies are also eligible to apply (individuals who do not identify as LGBTQ+ but support and ally with the LGBTQ+ community).
- Hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Applicants must be residents of the Commonwealth of Virginia in one of the following localities (now including Richmond and its surrounding areas):

- Chesapeake
- Chesterfield
- Hampton
- Henrico County
- Isle of Wight
- James City County
- Newport News
- Norfolk
- Northampton
- Poquoson
- Portsmouth
- Prince George
- Richmond
- Suffolk
- Surry
- Virginia Beach
- Williamsburg
- York
