Introduction
We provide scholarships to support LGBTQ+ students who are building leadership in their lives, families, workplaces, fields of study, home communities, and social justice movements. Our aim is to direct funds toward students who face the greatest need and who are actively contributing to the well-being and equity of their communities.
Scholarship Priorities
We give priority to LGBTQ+ student leaders whose experiences and attributes align with our mission to advance justice and reduce barriers. In particular, we focus on applicants who demonstrate some or all of the following:
- A proven commitment to promoting justice and improving community well-being, in past actions and future plans.
- Experience with family rejection or limited access to broader community supports.
- Encounters with systemic obstacles to educational access or impacts from discrimination and oppression. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Black, Indigenous, and other people of color (BIPOC)
- Trans, non-binary, gender diverse, gender non-conforming, and Two-Spirit people
- Immigrants
- People with disabilities or chronic health conditions (including those living with HIV, neurodivergence, or mental health challenges)
- Students over age 25 (non-traditional/older students)
- People living in rural areas
- People who have experienced or are experiencing housing instability or homelessness
- People who have experienced or are experiencing poverty
- Applicants with demonstrated financial need and limited or no access to family or other financial supports
How priorities are applied
These program priorities guide all scholarship awards. While most Pride Foundation scholarships accept applications from any eligible student, several named funds have additional, specific eligibility criteria (for example, based on major, background, or geographic location). For those funds, we give priority to applicants who meet both the specific fund requirements and the broader program priorities listed above.
Eligibility and Requirements
- Northwest residency: Applicants must be residents of one of the following states: Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington. You are considered a resident if you currently live in one of these states or if you lived there for at least one year at any point during the past five years. Applicants may be studying outside the region.
- Enrollment for 2026–2027 school year: Applicants must be planning to pursue post-secondary education during the 2026–2027 academic year. Eligible types of study include community college, four-year public or private colleges and universities, certificate programs, vocational/technical/trade programs, law school, medical/dental/veterinary school, and graduate programs.
