About the scholarship program
The Community Foundation’s Scholarship Program is made up of many individual scholarship funds established by donors. Each donor sets the award requirements for their fund, and all donor criteria are administered in accordance with the Community Foundation’s overall policies. Awards are intended for local students who plan to enroll full time at an accredited post‑secondary institution in the United States.
To review the specific funds and their requirements, please consult the Scholarship Fund profile pages. The Community Foundation also administers four substantial scholarships funded by the Dunham Foundation; details and eligibility for those awards are available on their Scholarship Fund profile page.
Primary eligibility requirements
- High school completion: Applicants must complete high school during, at the conclusion of, or prior to the current academic year. Acceptable forms of completion include:
  - A high school diploma from a public, private, parochial, or online school
  - Completion of a home‑school program
  - A General Educational Development (GED) credential or equivalent state certificate
- Enrollment: Applicants must plan to attend an accredited post‑secondary institution in the United States during the upcoming academic year.
- Enrollment status: Applicants must pursue their program on a full‑time basis during the upcoming academic year (this may include career/technical/vocational training, undergraduate, or graduate study).
- Residency/service area: Applicants must have a permanent address located within the Community Foundation Scholarship Program service area (some limited exceptions may apply).
Clarification on “permanent address”
A permanent address typically refers to a parent’s residence or the address shown on official documents such as a driver’s license, voter registration, or FAFSA. A temporary or on/off campus housing address is generally not considered a permanent address.
Service area
The Community Foundation Scholarship Program service area is defined by locations within the State of Illinois and is outlined on the Foundation’s website. Please review the online service area map or descriptions to confirm eligibility.
