2026 CURE — Cancer Support Scholarship: Youth Education Assistance for Cancer Survivors
Overview
The CURE Cancer Support Scholarship is funded by the Lep Foundation for Youth Education (a public charity that provides financial support to survivors of childhood and adolescent cancers) in partnership with CURE Media Group. It assists students who were diagnosed with cancer and who are pursuing further education despite the financial strain caused by medical treatment and related expenses.
Purpose and Award
CURE Magazine serves as a resource that blends scientific information with compassionate storytelling to make the cancer journey more understandable. Through a collaboration between the Lep Foundation and CURE Media Group, this scholarship provides financial help to eligible cancer survivors who have demonstrated determination in continuing their education. One scholarship of $5,000 will be awarded to a qualifying student to assist with college-related costs.
Eligibility
- Applicant must have been diagnosed with cancer and experienced significant financial hardship due to the disease and its treatments.
- Proof of diagnosis from a licensed physician is required, but this physician’s letter should NOT be submitted with the application; it will be requested only after award notification.
- Applicant must be a U.S. citizen living in the United States.
Academic and Other Requirements
- Candidates must show academic achievement and evidence that they are working to their potential.
- Applicant must be accepted for admission to an institution of higher learning (examples: college, community college, university, or vocational school).
- All grades and academic claims must be supported by official documentation.
Application Materials (all items required)
- One-page personal essay describing your cancer diagnosis, the challenges faced by you and your family because of the illness and treatments, and your educational and career goals.
- Copy of your school transcript (official documentation required for grades).
- Three letters of recommendation from non-family members.
- File format: PDF or DOC only. JPGs will not be accepted.
Submission Instructions and Deadline
Email the complete application package (all items listed above) no later than June 1, 2026 to: thelepfoundation@gmail.com. Applications missing any required materials will not be reviewed. Due to the volume of submissions, only individuals selected for an award will be contacted.
Payment / Use of Funds
- Scholarship funds are intended for tuition and related college costs.
- Payments are issued directly to the educational institution. To receive payment, the student’s school must complete and return the Foundation’s Verification of Enrollment form. Once the form is received, the Foundation will issue a check payable to the school and mail it directly to establish a credit in the student’s name. The student will be notified when the check is mailed.
- It is the student’s responsibility to follow up with the school and the Foundation regarding disbursement.
