AbbVie Immunology Scholarship

Scholarship Sponsored by AbbVie Immunology

Value: $20,000.00
Awards Available: 45
Deadline : Jun 10, 2026

Overview
The AbbVie Immunology Scholarship provides financial assistance to outstanding students enrolled at accredited U.S. colleges or universities who are living with certain chronic inflammatory conditions. The program supports students at multiple academic levels — including certificate programs, associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees — who meet the eligibility and application requirements described below.

Covered Conditions
Applicants must have a healthcare-professional diagnosis of one of the following inflammatory diseases:
- Atopic dermatitis (AD)
- Crohn’s disease (CD)
- Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS)
- Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA)
- Psoriasis (Ps)
- Psoriatic arthritis (PsA)
- Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)
- Ulcerative colitis (UC)
- Uveitis (UV)

If an applicant has more than one listed diagnosis, they should identify the condition most relevant to this application.

Who May Apply
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States.
- Have a diagnosis (by a healthcare professional) of one of the conditions listed above.
- Be a current high school senior or graduate, or a current postsecondary undergraduate or graduate student who plans to be enrolled full time for the entire 2026–2027 academic year at an accredited two‑ or four‑year college, university, or vocational/technical school in the U.S.
- Be pursuing a Certificate, Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree.

Use of AbbVie Products
Whether an applicant currently uses, has used, or plans to use any medicine or product marketed by AbbVie is not relevant to selection and will not be considered. Applicants should not mention specific brand or product names (including generic medication names) in their submission materials.

Award Amounts and Renewal
If selected, recipients will receive:
- Associate degree students: $10,000
- Bachelor degree students: $20,000
- Master’s or PhD students: $20,000

Awards apply to undergraduate and graduate study only. Beginning in 2026, scholarships are renewable for up to three additional years — or until the recipient completes a bachelor’s or graduate degree, whichever happens first — provided the student remains enrolled full time and maintains at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).

Recipient Expectations and Conduct
Recipients must maintain strong academic performance and demonstrate integrity while receiving the award. If a recipient is charged with an offense involving moral turpitude or engages in conduct that could bring AbbVie or the scholarship program into disrepute, AbbVie reserves the right to sever association with the recipient. AbbVie may also use a recipient’s image and likeness for promotional purposes.

How Recipients Are Chosen
Selection emphasizes:
- Community involvement
- Ability to serve as a positive role model within the immunology community
- Academic achievement
- Leadership and participation in school, community activities, and/or work experience (if applicable)
- A letter of recommendation
- An essay responding to one of the provided prompts

Scholarship America will review applications and select finalists. Finalists are evaluated by a judging panel selected by AbbVie, which will aim to represent a variety of therapeutic areas depending on submissions. All judging decisions are final.

Required Essay (choose one)
1) Living with a chronic inflammatory disease often shapes perspective and daily life. Describe the day‑to‑day challenges you face, how your outlook helps you cope, and the most important lesson you have learned through your health journey.
2) Community support can be vital for people with chronic inflammatory conditions. Describe your support system and the role you have played in your community. Why is that role important to you?
3) Education can empower change. What are your plans for your education and how do you hope to use it? Which aspects of your future goals excite you the most?

Optional Short Answers (not scored)
Applicants may optionally respond (up to 2,000 characters each) to one of the following. These responses will not affect selection but may provide additional context:
- What would receiving this scholarship mean to you and how would it affect your education and future academic path?
- How has your chronic inflammatory disease affected your educational experience? What advice would you offer another student with the same diagnosis?

Application Materials
As part of the application you must upload:
- A current, complete official transcript. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must show: student name, school name, grades, and credit hours for each course and term.
Note: SAT or ACT scores are not required. If you choose to submit them and the scores are not already included on your high school transcript, you must upload an official copy of the test score report. If you submit a college transcript, SAT/ACT scores are not required.

Timeline and Notification
- All applicants will be informed of their application status by June 2, 2026 via the email address or mobile number provided on the application.
- Scholarship recipients will be notified during the week of July 7, 2026.
Applicants may opt in to receive future communications from AbbVie, Inc. via email or mobile.

Scholarship Payment
Scholarship America processes payments on behalf of AbbVie. Awards are paid in a single installment in August and will be made payable to the recipient’s institution.

Recipient Obligations
Recipients are not obligated to AbbVie beyond scholarship requirements, but they must notify Scholarship America of any changes in address, enrollment status, or other relevant information, and provide an official transcript when requested.

Program Administration and Changes
The AbbVie Immunology Scholarship is sponsored by AbbVie and administered by Scholarship America, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and educational support programs. Program eligibility rules for each scholarship are determined by the sponsor. AbbVie reserves the right to change these rules or dates at any time in accordance with applicable laws.

Contact/Final Notes
Eligibility and finalist determinations are made at the sponsor’s discretion and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. All judging decisions are final.
