About Bev Good
Bev Good was a widely respected track official who devoted his life to mentoring and working with student-athletes. Known across the Mid-Atlantic as well as in his local community, he served for many years as a track-and-field meet referee and official. His dedication to the sport and to high standards inspired teammates, coaches, athletes, and fellow officials.
Bev Good Memorial Scholarship
The Bev Good Memorial Scholarship, established through an endowment by Debbie and Joe Showker, was created to honor his memory and continue his influence on young athletes.
Eligibility and Nomination
- Each high school in Augusta County and Rockingham County, and the high schools in the cities of Waynesboro, Staunton, and Harrisonburg, may nominate one track athlete.
- Nominations must come from the school’s head coach. The selection committee evaluates nominees on qualities including character, determination, self-motivation, and sportsmanship demonstrated in competition.
Application Requirement
An application must be submitted by a track coach or the school’s athletic director on the student-athlete’s behalf.
