Lynch Family Legacy Scholarships

Overview
Founded in 1998 by John and Linda Lynch, the Lynch Family Legacy Scholarships provide college tuition support for high school senior student‑athletes in the Tampa Bay and Denver regions. Since the program began, the family has awarded a total of $1.8 million to deserving students.
Who is eligible / How recipients are selected
Applicants must be high school seniors who compete at the varsity level. Candidates are evaluated primarily on academic achievement, athletic performance, and involvement in their communities. Financial need is taken into account, and leadership and other personal qualities are also considered. Each applicant is required to submit an essay and three letters of recommendation as part of the application.
Tampa Bay Scholarships
- Number and amount: Four scholarships, each $2,500.
- Eligible area: High school senior varsity student‑athletes from Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
- Selection factors: Academics, athletics, community service, financial need, leadership, and other intangible qualities.
- Deadline: Applications must be submitted by March 14 at midnight EST.
- Availability: The 2026 application for Hillsborough and Pinellas County will be posted online in early November.

Denver / Colorado Area Scholarships
- Number and amount: Four scholarships, each $24,000.
- Eligible area: High school senior varsity student‑athletes from the Denver and greater Colorado region.
- Selection factors: Academics, athletics, community service, financial need, leadership, and other intangible qualities.
- Deadline: Applications must be submitted by March 14 at midnight EST.
