The Texas Section of the Society for Range Management (TSSRM) awards a yearly $2,500 college scholarship from the Bill Wyche, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund. This scholarship is intended for deserving students interested in agriculture studies; while the announcement highlights high school seniors, applications are also accepted from current college and graduate students. The Society for Range Management (SRM) is a professional organization that supports individuals working with rangelands and promotes their sustainable use. Rangelands make up nearly one-half of the world’s land area. SRM’s mission centers on conserving and managing these lands responsibly for the benefit of today’s communities and future generations.
Application materials and submission
Applicants must submit the following items by mail to the chairman of the Bill Wyche, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund Committee:
- A typed application form.
- Three letters of reference or recommendation. These should address the applicant’s academic performance, financial need, character, leadership, and similar qualities.
- A certified copy of the applicant’s high school or college transcript.
Eligibility criteria
To be considered, applicants must meet all of the following:
- Demonstrate an intention to major in agriculture.
- Be a high school senior, a college student, or a graduate student (applications from any of these groups are accepted).
- Show financial need.
- Demonstrate academic achievement.
- Express intent to actively pursue a career in agriculture.
- Not be a previous recipient of the Bill Wyche, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Award.
Deadline
All application materials must be postmarked or received by April 30 of the application year.
